The Twelve Apostles Stone Circle

The Twelve Apostles Stone Circle - Ancient Voices
Ilkley moor's very own Neolithic stone circle. Sadly neglected, this 4500 year old circle is at the top of the moor and commands extroardinary views across to Denton moor beyond. According to archaeologist Arthur Raistrick, the Twelve Apostles originally consisted of at least twenty upright stones with a solitary monolith at its centre. Until recently all of the stones were knocked down and laid in the long heather, until some kindly 'Sprites' placed them back up again.
