James Elkington Photography - About Page

Thank you for visiting my website!

I am a professional landscape photographer, and for nearly 45 years I have walked, caved and climbed in the Yorkshire Dales, upper moorland and the Lake District - as well as a few other countries abroad. I have always carried a camera.

I live in a little market town in Yorkshire with the wild moors all around me, so naturally most of my photographs are taken of these beautiful and enigmatic places. I love exploring the moors, and searching for the old prehistoric remains - stone circles, tombs, rock art and other remains which are in abundance here. I love a good mystery and the moors are full of mysteries waiting to be discovered.

I started off with an old battered Praktica and built my own darkroom - black and white at first, and later progressed to color Cibachromes and color prints.

I have exhibited, sold to galleries and had my work published in various magazines.

I currently use Nikon camera bodies and lenses, and the superb Cokin Nuances range of filters. Processing is done in Lightroom and Photoshop CC using RayaPro 11.
